Spring & Early Summer Chinook Salmon Fishing
The early runs of Chinook salmon into Bute Inlet can be fabulous from mid-April through to mid-June. You'll find that King salmon (Chinooks) ranging from 15 - 35 pounds are being boated on a regular basis. Now that is what a salmon fishing trip to Canada is all about!
BC Fishing In July and August ...
This is when the largest runs of Chinook salmon pass through the area. Some salmon are returning to local rivers and some are heading on to other spawning destinations. These salmon range from 10 to 45 pounds and will offer the determined angler a tremendous fight. The largest salmon caught in our area off the west coast of Canada in 2004 was a whopping 52 pounds!
August and September Salmon Fishing...
BC fishing charters for runs of large northern Coho - spectacular fighting fish that we catch and release. Chinook salmon are still coming through BC waters at this time of year and have grown to considerable size.
Fishing trips out into Johnstone Strait can yield a tasty Sockeye catch - some say the red fleshed Sockeye is the very best eating salmon of all. Take some home to share with your family and friends!
Fishing Charters in September & October
If you prefer Chum Salmon, plan your west coast British Columbia fishing trip for the fall. Chum Salmon is gaining a reputation as one of the best salmon for hot smoking. Chums are plentiful in the late Summer through Fall. They are another tremendous fighting fish and are gaining in popularity as guests take return fishing trips later in the season.
